How to Change Screen Resolution in Windows Vista

You may notice that unlike Windows XP, there is no 'Display' icon in the Control Panel of Windows Vista, so how does one adjust screen resolution? Here's how:

1 right-click on the Desktop
2 click 'Personalize'
3 click on 'Display Settings'
4 move the slider to select the desired screen resolution
5 optionally you can adjust the 'Color' quality to Highest (32 bit) or Medium (16 bit)
6 optionally at 'Advanced Settings' you can adjust screen refresh rate, update drivers, and more
7 click Apply and OK

Alternately, you can reach the same 'Display Settings' dialog box by going to the Control Panel, in the left frame select 'Control Panel Home', then in the main window under 'Appearance and Personalization' select 'Adjust Screen Resolution'.

Alternately, in the Contol Panel 'Classic View' you can click on 'Personalization', then follow the steps above beginning with step 3
