With FreewareVista I wanted to create a straightforward, utilitarian site with a focus on quality freeware - especially system tools and security. Additionally, I wanted to provide a site that marries products and resources in such a way that a computer user (even new users) might more easily solve their computing problems and enhance their general software knowledge. The categories at the left lead to freeware and free trials, tips, resources and how-to articles, many for Windows Vista. Unlike other sites, I have not tried to pack-the-pages-full with every conceivable freeware application - I am of the philosophy that if a computer user is to consider keeping an application on their computer, that application should outperform the other available products.
Of course, I'll admit, wandering through zillions of freeware applications can be fun - part of the fun of freeware is searching for that next great application. On the other hand, a computer user may want to narrow the search somewhat. Even eliminating the also-rans, there is still plenty to explore. Plus, in addition to products, you may like quick access to helpful related information - for example, if you want a firewall, you may also want to have a collection of firewall tests so to test your new firewall; if you're testing a new anti-virus, you might like easy access to the specialty uninstaller utility for that particular anti-virus program. You can also use the site search tool to search FreewareVista for a topic or product of interest. SRB
