Changing Icon Size in Windows Vista

The large aesthetic icons available in Windows Vista make for a very aesthetic desktop - especially nice on large screens where space is of little concern. Changing the icon size from its medium default setting may become a very popular tweak indeed.

1 right click on the desktop
2 select 'View'
3 click on the desired icon size, note that the 'Classic Icons' are simply the small versions
4 optionally deselect 'Align to Grid' if you prefer free icon placement
5 note the option 'Show Desktop Icons', deselect to hide all desktop icons including the Recycle Bin
6 note the 'Auto Arrange' option which aligns icons neatly to the left of the desktop
7 optionally use the 'Sort By' option to sort icons by Name, Size, Type or Date Modified
